Winning an Olympic medal is the ultimate dream for many athletes. It's the achievement of a lifetime for them, and it's no surprise that many of these Olympic medalists cry tears of joy during the official ceremony. It means so much to them.
This was particularly the case for gymnast Jordan Chiles, who cried tears of joy for a long time when she won her precious bronze medal in the floor gymnastics event at the Paris Olympics.
But in the past few hours, she received some terrible news.
Why does she have to return her medal? Because of a rule that was broken by four seconds.
Basically, the Romanian Ana Barbosu was initially announced as the bronze medal winner, but she was ultimately downgraded to fourth place after the judges reassessed Chiles' score.
The judges had made an error with Chiles' score, realized it, and corrected it by awarding her the bronze medal.
It was submitted 1 minute and 4 seconds after the final announcement, whereas the rules stipulate that they have a maximum of one minute.
These "extra" 4 seconds have therefore cost Jordan Chiles a bronze medal, which is really unfortunate for her.
One can only imagine her immense disappointment.
Many athletes, particularly from the United States, have condemned this decision in recent hours and have come to Chiles' defense.
This is a situation that is currently causing a lot of discussion in Paris.
