Earlier today, we were talking to you about the story involving Derek Lalonde and Tampa Bay Lightning's star goaltender, Andrei Vasilevskiy.
In essence, Jon Cooper's former right-hand man, his former confident and assistant coach, revealed confidential information.
He claimed that while he was with the Lightning, they conducted an in-depth analysis of shots from the blue line and found that Vasilevskiy is one of the worst goalies in the league in that area, which led Tampa Bay to completely change their defensive coverage.
In the last few minutes, during a press conference, Jon Cooper was asked about Lalonde's comments and he accused him.
"He's just there because he was an assistant coach on that team. So, he's trying to give an insight and trying to give something relevant to the fans, and he should just make sure it's accurate," via Lightning Insider.
Jon Cooper is clearly upset with Derek Lalonde, as evidenced by his statement above. He did not appreciate his former assistant coach publicly revealing Vasilevskiy's number one weakness.
"Sportsnet pays him well to give his opinion, so he has to come up with something about stuff like this," said Jon Cooper.
Some argue that Lalonde broke the code. It's stirring things up!
More details to follow.
