We just witnessed a very rare scene live from Patrick Roy's New York Islanders practice.

We've mentioned it before, but Roy never has and never will do things in a conventional way.

That's what makes him so unique and excellent as a head coach. Here's another example.

A 13-minute practice for Patrick Roy's men this morning

You read that right. A journalist from Carolina even confided that it's the first time in his life he had seen that.

Another said that it's the shortest practice he has attended in a long time.

The Islanders' morning practice lasted exactly 13 minutes.

"The shortest practice I've seen in a very long time," a local press member told me here in Carolina.

Patrick. Roy.

- Via journalist Anthony Martineau, from TVA Sports

It's a particular technique, but Roy certainly has a purpose and goal behind this unique strategy.

"Took longer to put on their equipment than to practice." - Martineau

Patrick Roy's Islanders are currently trailing 0-1 in their best-of-seven series against the Carolina Hurricanes. They lost Saturday night by a score of 3-1 in Raleigh.

Varlamov gets the start in game two

Varlamov, who was Patrick Roy's number one goalie with the Colorado Avalanche, gets the start again tonight! Wow!

We thought Roy might give one game to Varlamov and one to Sorokin (as he has done over the past few weeks), but no!

This is definitely the most surprising goaltending decision of the 2024 playoffs so far.

Roy is leaving his star goalie Ilya Sorokin on the bench for game number two. (hopefully he has a chair this time)

We remember what happened game 1:
