We were talking about it yesterday, we knew it was a risk, we saw it coming, and now it's just been confirmed.

Goalie Spencer Martin claimed off waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes

It has indeed just been officially announced and it's bad news for the Canadiens.

It obviously has a direct impact on Kent Hughes, the Montreal Canadiens, and Jake Allen.

The Habs' general manager has just lost a potential dance partner.

The Hurricanes were among the four most aggressive teams in the NHL in acquiring a goaltender. Rumors were sending Jake Allen there.

In short, we can forget that destination.

They have just filled their need in goal via waivers and their acquisition is ultimately Spencer Martin.

It's also further proof that Allen and Cayden Primeau would surely be claimed on waivers. They are much better than Martin.

Martin, 28 years old, is a Canadian goalie of 6 feet 3 inches and 191 pounds. He was a 3rd round pick in 2013 by the Colorado Avalanche and he has played 13 games this season with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

In the AHL, in his last 40 starts, he has an average of 2.43 and a save percentage of 0.916. (26 wins and 11 losses)
