Acquired in a trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames, the 21-year-old forward Emil Heineman makes a big statement
As the 2023 training camp for the Montreal Canadiens approaches, we have news from one of the revelations of the 2022 camp.
The one who was acquired from the Calgary Flames in the Tyler Toffoli trade impressed everyone a year ago, and he seems determined to do it again this season.
In a very interesting interview with Anthony Martineau from TVA Sports, Heineman indeed made a big statement.
We love his confidence!
"Do you think you have what it takes to secure a full-time spot with the Canadiens this year?" - Anthony Martineau
"Yes. You'll see in October." - Emil Heineman
There you have it. It says a lot. With the departures of Rem Pitlick and Mike Hoffman, the door might open for a youngster like Heineman, but of course, he would need an exceptional camp to surprise everyone.
Moreover, throughout this report by journalist Martineau, you can sense the determination and confidence in young Heineman's words.
"I've never played an official NHL game, but if I go by the three preparatory games where I played last year, I'm convinced that I have what it takes not only to win a regular spot with Montreal but also to help the team." - Emil Heineman
It promises an exciting few weeks ahead!
Heineman, 21 years old, is a 6-foot Finnish winger weighing 194 pounds. He was acquired in 2022, along with Tyler Pitlick, a 5th round pick, and a 1st round pick, in the Tyler Toffoli trade.
He scored 9 points (7 goals) in just 11 games last season with the Laval Rocket.
Do you believe in his chances to start the season in Montreal?
