Yesterday, the Edmonton Oilers took a risk and caused a surprise by placing the big Quebecer forward Raphael Lavoie on waivers.

Many journalists (even those from Edmonton) believed that Lavoie could have been claimed by the Anaheim Ducks or the Montreal Canadiens.

The verdict has just come in

Raphael Lavoie was overlooked on waivers

Interesting! From Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton's perspective, they evidently judged that Jesse Ylönen has a better potential

Lavoie was the 38th overall pick in the 2019 draft (2nd round). Some fans and experts wanted the Canadiens to select him in the 1st round at the time.

He accumulated a solid 25 goals and 45 points in 61 games last season in the AHL. He is a winger standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 215 pounds.

It's true that he has been involved in some trade rumors with the Montreal Canadiens over the past few years, but it was primarily during Marc Bergevin's tenure.
