Big last-minute development on a trade involving a Montreal Canadiens' goaltender
In the last few hours, the excellent TVA Sports journalist Anthony Martineau, who covers the Montreal Canadiens, had some new information for us.
He notably revealed that Kent Hughes is "open for business" regarding his goaltenders. Interesting! There's chatter behind the scenes, and another trade could be imminent.
Not necessarily DeSmith?
The Habs' general manager seems to be open to various types of trades, which is certainly intriguing.
It's also understood that Hughes is open to trading other goaltenders, not just Casey DeSmith. He's considering all options and is receptive.
"Montreal is 'open for business' regarding its goaltenders, I've also been told.
The team has not yet made a decision, is listening carefully, and appears to be seeking the most beneficial avenue for themselves."
Anthony Martineau
It seems unlikely that Montembeault would be traded, but it's possible that Kent Hughes is now considering the option of keeping Casey DeSmith and trading Jake Allen.
And you, what would you do?
At 31 years old, DeSmith had a record of 15-16-4 with a goals-against average of 3.17 and a save percentage of .905 in 38 games with the Penguins last season. He has one more year left on his contract, earning $1.8 million.
A situation to keep an eye on!
