Jaromir Jagr is linked to a team and could make a return to the NHL next year
An utterly astonishing piece of information has just surfaced in the world of hockey. According to the NHL News Update, the General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Kyle Dubas, is reportedly in advanced talks with Jaromir Jagr to grant him a one-season contract.
Sources close to General Manager Kyle Dubas have confirmed that he is in advanced negotiations with former Penguins forward Jaromir Jagr regarding a one-season contract at the league's minimum salary. - NHL News Update
Wow! Imagine if Jaromir Jagr, now 51 years old, were to make a return to the NHL next season, it would be utterly crazy!
We must admit that it's rather hard to believe. Would the Penguins want to sign Jagr with the intention of allowing the former star to retire as a member of the organization? If that were the case, Kyle Dubas could offer him a one-day contract, as many organizations do in such situations.
Surprisingly, despite his age, the Czech forward is still playing in a professional league, having scored five goals and provided nine assists (14 points) in 26 games with the Kladno Knights in his native country last season.
It would simply be incredible if the legend played another season in the NHL next year, but it is hard to predict the actual impact he could have on the ice.
One thing is for sure, we are all eager to see how this situation unfolds.
