With today's big news regarding Pierre-Luc Dubois, rumors linking him to the Montreal Canadiens have significantly intensified in the past few minutes.

Let's remember that Dubois' agent has just informed the Jets that his client will not be signing a new contract with them and that he would like to work with the management to trade Pierre-Luc. (probably as early as this month)

Knowing this, and knowing that the favorite team to acquire Dubois is the Montreal Canadiens, this is truly major news.

Dubois is likely to be traded soon for obvious reasons.

While most CH fans would love to see Dubois come to town, many fear that Kent Hughes will overpay for a player he could have "for free" in a year.

On this topic, insider Pierre LeBrun has just dropped some very reassuring information.

"Lebrun, regarding Dubois who has requested a trade: The Habs remain very interested (in acquiring him). That said, I don't think Montreal is interested in paying a fortune in a trade, especially considering he will be UFA (completely free) in a year.'

Rest assured! Kent Hughes won't overpay to acquire Dubois, and that's extremely exciting for what's to come.

He won't touch Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Kirby Dach. The most likely names to leave in such a trade are Jordan Harris and Josh Anderson, but even then, the Habs' GM is likely to be very cautious.

We love it!

A big case to follow.
