In a very interesting interview with journalist Alexandre Gascon of Radio-Canada, the Montreal Canadiens' general manager, Kent Hughes, made a significant revelation regarding his young goalie, Cayden Primeau.
He particularly revealed the real reason why Primeau wasn't put on waivers and why the CH chose to start the season with three goalies.
"According to Kent Hughes' interview with Alexandre Gascon, Cayden Primeau would probably have been claimed off waivers by a team that inquired about trading for him, which forced the Canadiens to include 3 goalies in their lineup.
Good decision, or was it time to part ways with Primeau?"
Kent Hughes indeed said that the decision to keep three goalies was made partly because another NHL team called during camp trying to negotiate a trade for Cayden Primeau.
The Canadiens believed, rightly so, that this team would have claimed Primeau off waivers.
Stay tuned! Will this negotiated trade materialize? Is this team also interested in Jake Allen?
