As you know, it's no secret, the Vancouver Canucks are looking to trade their forward Conor Garland, but his contract is a stumbling block to the trade.
Garland, 27, is a 5-foot-10-inch, 165-pound forward who has accumulated 46 and 52 points over the past two seasons. He is productive and he is a good scorer.
However, he earns $4.95 million per season until 2026.
On this topic, the popular columnist Eklund just reported on a rumor.
The Boston Bruins, the Montreal Canadiens, and the New York Islanders are reportedly in talks with Vancouver for a trade involving Garland.
A case to follow, but we are pretty much convinced of one thing.
If the CH is really involved in this case, it's only as a third team, to retain a portion of Garland's salary. (Kent Hughes would receive a draft pick or a prospect in the trade, in exchange for a portion of Garland's salary)
We would be extremely surprised if Garland ends up in Montreal, for several reasons, including his size, age, and playing style which clearly does not fit into the Habs' plans.
This could be a way to capitalize on Dach's salary on the LTIR (Long-Term Injured Reserve).
Stay tuned.
