As we discussed earlier this week, star player Patrick Kane is about to make his decision and sign with a new team.
A team that will instantly get a huge boost that could change everything. Everyone is eager to see who will have the immense luck of signing him.
Kane, 34 years old, has accumulated 1237 points in 1180 career NHL games, including 110 points in 2019, 84 points in 70 games in 2020, 66 points in 56 games in 2021, 92 points in 2022, and 57 points in 73 games last season.
According to circulating rumors, the Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Toronto Maple Leafs are the Eastern favorites to sign Kane.
Why not Kane with the Canadiens?
On TVA Sports, host Jean-Charles Lajoie raised the idea. He allows himself to dream about it.
He believes Kane could be the CH's "Artemi Panarin," drawing a parallel to the Rangers' rebuild. Kane could be the star forward missing on the CH's first line, alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.
"Without even asking if Kane, an American native of Buffalo, would want to play in Canada, I want to dream a little at the start of this weekend.
The Canadiens are following a clear and precise plan, that's true. But Kent Hughes has sometimes let slip, during some interviews, that his plan includes the idea of adding a big natural talent to his team, a star player who can 'change the game.'
Kane is a left-handed player who plays on the right wing. If I close my eyes and imagine Kane completing Nick Suzuki at center and 'Goal' Caufield on the left, I get a lot of pleasure.
I smile and daydream about seeing the prolific Kane wear the iconic mostly red Canadiens jersey on a Saturday night at the temple...
I have no trouble recreating the sound of the leaping and screaming crowd after a Kane laser in the top corner."
- Jean-Charles Lajoie
It remains a wish, but he goes a bit further afterwards.
It would be quite a scenario, in any case.
