Trade: a big rumor has just been confirmed regarding Jeff Petry, and it's causing a huge reaction
Today, we were treated to a surprise transaction as defenseman Jeff Petry was sent back to the Montreal Canadiens, just one year after asking for a trade from Kent Hughes.
You guess that it made a big reaction.
It raised a question.
Did Petry get convinced to waive his no-trade clause to go to Montreal?
The answer is no.
Why? Simply because, to everyone's surprise, sources have just confirmed that the CH was not even on the list of the 15 teams where Petry refused to be traded. The rumor was therefore true.
He therefore did not even have to give his consent.
Montreal was not on his no-trade list. It's confirmed.
It doesn't mean that he won't be traded again before the start of the season, but it clearly shows that he did not feel the need to put Montreal on his list.
It says a lot.
