Following the elimination of the Carolina Hurricanes against the New York Rangers, a major trade has finally been completely finalized.

With the elimination of the Raleigh team, the Jake Guentzel trade could finally be completed, and the Penguins lose the 1st round pick they had acquired in this trade.

What a disappointing return, in the end, for such a good player!

Final and completed trade for Jake Guentzel: the Penguins receive a 2nd round pick instead of a 1st round pick

The details of the trade have been revealed in the last few hours, and for Guentzel, Pittsburgh will finally receive:

- A second-round pick, three prospects, and Michael Bunting.

«Update on draft pick conditions:

The 2024 second-round pick sent to Pittsburgh in the Jake Guentzel trade will NOT be upgraded to a 2024 first-round pick. Additionally, Carolina will retain its 2025 fifth-round pick.» - CapFriendly

So they lose the fifth-round pick that was announced in this trade, and the first-round pick is downgraded to a second-round pick.

We wish them that Michael Bunting becomes extremely dominant because this really doesn't look like a good trade for Pittsburgh at first glance. (nor at second glance either)

Guentzel, 29 years old, has accumulated 491 points in 520 career NHL games, including 227 goals. That's extremely solid.

This season, we're talking about 77 points in 67 games (30 goals) during the regular season, plus 9 points in 11 playoff games.
