We have a trade to announce involving the excellent defenseman Cam Fowler. As reported by renowned journalist Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the veteran defenseman is on the move.

The trade involves the St. Louis Blues and the Anaheim Ducks.

Here's what various sources are reporting:

«Anaheim and St. Louis are working on a trade involving Cam Fowler.»

- Elliotte Friedman

«It seems the Blues are working on a trade to acquire defenseman Cam Fowler. Elliotte Friedman had the first scoop.»

-Jeremy Rutherford

Insider Elliotte Friedman broke the news first, with Rutherford and Pagnotta later confirming it.

Cam Fowler, 33 years old, is a left-handed defenseman standing 6 foot 2 and weighing 210 pounds.

He was a first-round pick by the Anaheim Ducks in 2010 (12th overall) and has accumulated 457 points, including 96 goals, in 991 career NHL games.

He was set to play his 1,000th game with the Ducks, imagine that.

This season, the veteran, who earns $6.5 million annually through 2026, has recorded four points in 17 games. Last season, he registered 39 points with Anaheim.

Update on the return

It appears the St-Louis Blues will be sending a second round pick and a minor-league prospect in return for Fowler's services. The Ducks will also retain 38.5% of his contract.
