We have new information regarding the trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators. We know that Kent Hughes is currently overseas to meet with his young prospect Ivan Demidov, which could explain this situation.

However, it was indeed not him who made the phone call after the trade with Nashville last night.

According to the excellent Charles-Alexis Brisebois from DansLesCoulisses, it was Jeff Gorton who called Alexandre Carrier (and not Kent Hughes) after the trade.

We can clearly see that the two are working as a team.

«It was Jeff Gorton and not Kent Hughes who called Alexandre Carrier to welcome him to Montreal. Normally, this is the GM's job after a trade.» - DLC

This was confirmed by the new Quebecois defenseman of the Montreal Canadiens himself during an interview with Maxim Lapierre from La Poche Bleue, who were the first to get a reaction from Carrier.

Check out the excerpt here:

What fantastic work by Max and the guys at La Poche Bleue!

They got him on for an interview literally seconds after the official announcement of the trade.

In short, it's an interesting piece of information.

Carrier will wear number 45 and has been cleared by doctors, so he's likely to be in the lineup against the Detroit Red Wings as soon as tomorrow night.

The Quebecois defenseman, who is also a right-handed shot, will bring excellent stability to Martin St. Louis' defensive corps.

Do you like the trade of Justin Barron for Alexandre Carrier, for the Canadiens?
