It's no secret that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton have been active on the trade market recently, and here's another intriguing tidbit.

During a recent interview on the excellent Tony Marinaro podcast, the well-known Pierre McGuire shared some fascinating news.

The Montreal Canadiens reportedly offered Joel Armia as part of a trade with the Ottawa Senators a few years ago.

Montreal proposed Joel Armia to Ottawa in a multi-player deal

The trade reportedly involved several players.

Tony revisited this interesting piece of information on BPM Sports just minutes ago.

«He told me he was part of a much bigger trade. There were several pieces in that trade. He told me he wouldn't name the other players, but obviously, the deal didn't go through.

Joel Armia, less than three years ago, was offered by the Gorton-Hughes administration to the Ottawa Senators in a multi-player trade, and the Senators said no.»

This proposed trade, involving multiple elements, was ultimately rejected by Ottawa.

The offer came from Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton's management team.

Will Armia eventually be traded by the Canadiens this season? Stay tuned.

Now 31 years old, Armia is a 6-foot-3, 216-pound forward. A first-round pick by the Buffalo Sabres in 2011, he has recorded six points in 17 games this season, including two goals. Last season, he tallied 25 points in 66 games, including 17 goals.

As his contract nears its expiration, this is certainly a situation worth monitoring.
