We have some news regarding the Montreal Canadiens and the NHL trade market.

As the famous trade deadline approaches, the names of certain Habs players are being mentioned due to the team's position in the standings, especially players whose contracts are set to expire (who will be free agents next summer).

However, among these impending UFAs, some might still be retained long-term by the organization.

According to information shared by Darren Dreger on TSN 690, the Canadiens' general manager is currently open to listening to all offers concerning his pending free agents.

This includes players like Christian Dvorak, Jake Evans, Joel Armia, and David Savard.

That said, one of these players may no longer be as available.

The Canadiens would rather keep Jake Evans and extend his contract

Here's the interesting part:

«I think Evans is the player the Montreal Canadiens would like to keep. That's my impression.»

- Darren Dreger, who adds that he no longer believes Evans is as available as he once was.

Of course, if an offer comes in that's impossible to refuse, things could change. However, for now, everything points to the goal of keeping Jake Evans with the Montreal Canadiens (and not trading him).

This is reminiscent of the Artturi Lehkonen situation, where Kent Hughes may have learned from his past mistake.

Jake Evans, 28, is a 6-foot, 190-pound forward who has recorded 12 points in 24 games this season, with a -3 rating.

A story to follow.

If it were your decision, what would you do?
