In the last few minutes, TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie published a very interesting article in which he spills a wealth of information about the recent transaction between the Montreal Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils.

We are, of course, talking about the trade involving Jake Allen.

It's a deal struck between Kent Hughes and Tom Fitzgerald that has been the talk of the NHL:

«A transaction that did not go unnoticed in the NHL.» - Renaud Lavoie

He adds the following in his text:

«We were all surprised on Friday when Jake Allen was traded. Surprised because the Devils were on the list of teams where Jake Allen did not want to be traded and surprised because the Canadiens still got a third-round pick in return. This pick could become a second-round pick if the Devils make the playoffs next season and if Jake Allen plays a minimum of 40 games.»

Jake Allen to the Devils, a trade concluded several days before Friday's announcement?

The TVA Sports journalist also notes that people across the league were intrigued to see the Devils take a chance on Allen despite his challenging season.

It is also revealed that, evidently, this was a trade concluded or nearly concluded well before Friday, because «Allen hesitated for a few days before agreeing to waive his no-trade clause».

He really liked Montreal, but he ultimately agreed to let go and move.

A text we definitely recommend you check out:

Another surprising transaction by Kent Hughes, indeed!
