It is worth noting that the Habs still have a top-5 priority for claiming players (due to their position in the overall standings), so it's always interesting to watch the names on the waiver list.
Today, the name drawing attention is undoubtedly Alex Nylander, an excellent hockey player, talented, and a 2016 first-round draft pick.
Nylander, 26 years old, is a 6-foot-1, 205-pound forward who was indeed selected in the first round of the 2016 draft (8th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres.
He has 49 points in 126 career games in the National Hockey League (25 goals) and played five games with the Toronto Maple Leafs this season.
He is the brother of star player William Nylander.
In the American Hockey League (AHL), Alex Nylander has recently recorded:
12 points in 14 games in 2024-25
32 points in 43 games in 2023-24
50 points in 55 games in 2022-23
30 points in 44 games in 2021-22
and so on.
He is undoubtedly an intriguing player who could potentially be acquired for free.
