We have just had a very interesting development for a trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators involving Philip Tomasino.

As you know, many promising young forwards have been linked to Kent Hughes for a trade.

However, the problem with many of them (like Trevor Zegras or Martin Necas) is the acquisition cost or the "fit" with the other team.

Ideally, to complete a trade, Montreal needs to deal with a club looking for young defensemen, simply because it's an organizational surplus.

Kent Hughes can afford to trade a young defenseman for a young forward, and that's exactly what he seems to be aiming for.

A trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators involving a young defenseman? That's what they're looking for

That's very interesting!

Among the many young forwards linked to the Canadiens, there's Philip Tomasino of the Preds!

Knowing that we have just learned they would be interested in acquiring young defensemen like Jordan Harris, Justin Barron, and/or Jayden Struble, do we finally have a possible "match" on the trade market?

It's a big lead in any case.

«Nashville seems to be quite active in exploring options to improve their blue line and to acquire defensemen, both on the trade market and the free agent market. Two pending free agents on their radar are Brett Pesce and Sean Walker.» - David Pagnotta

Finally, a team looking for young defensemen and that has a top-6 young forward to trade!

However, Pesce is reported to have chosen to sign with the New Jersey Devils according to various sources.

So, would you like Kent Hughes to make such a trade?

To Montreal - Philip Tomasino

To Nashville - Jordan Harris + Justin Barron

This is an example, but the principle of acquiring Tomasino in exchange for one or two young defensemen is clear.

More details to follow.

Philip Tomasino, 22 years old, is a 24th overall pick in 2019 (1st round), so he also comes from that famous 2019 draft that is so favored by Kent Hughes.

Last season, he scored 20 points in 41 NHL games and 18 points in 22 AHL games.

In his career in the NHL, he has 70 points in 148 games, which is solid for this 6-foot, 180-pound right-handed center.
