Major: NHL announcement involving the relocation of the Coyotes
Here is a new, very important development for those hoping for the return of the Quebec Nordiques and a disappointment for Gary Bettman.
See what journalist Frank Seravalli has just reported.
"Scottsdale mayor says in op-ed he won't support the Coyotes proposed new arena site with infrastructure assets.
"The prospect of a rookie developer attempting to buy [land] .. at the doorstep of Scottsdale is not feasible, or welcome."
Wow! That's major!
It really feels like the end, especially since this was clearly the last-ditch effort to keep the Coyotes in Arizona.
We are at a point where the city of Scottsdale (Arizona) plainly no longer wants the Coyotes.
Their message is clear.
It really smells like a relocation.
Clearly, Arizona no longer wants the Coyotes. It's as simple as that.
An announcement from Gary Bettman and the NHL
The NHL has just announced that representatives of the Houston and Atlanta groups should meet with Gary Bettman soon. (after the meeting with the Nordiques minister, Éric Girard)
Are these two cases related? It's certainly possible.
Recall indeed that, last week, the Quebec finance minister met with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.
Confirmed by Éric Girard's office, this private meeting took place in New York, following a Minister's meeting in the Big Apple.
The Nordiques minister met Gary Bettman.
It seems to be more and more evident that the Coyotes will relocate. Where? That is the big question.
