It's a disappointment for many Habs fans who had hoped to see Kent Hughes get the captain's younger brother for free.
Ryan Suzuki, who has just re-signed for one season with the Carolina Hurricanes, never got his chance there.
We're talking about a two-way deal, the details of which you can find right here:
So it's $775,000 at the NHL level for Suzuki, and $70,000 at the AHL level.
Ryan Suzuki, 23, is a 6-foot, 180-pound forward who was drafted in the 1st round of the 2019 draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.
At that time, he had amassed 75 points in 65 games in the OHL, and he followed that up with 58 points in 44 games to finish his junior career.
In the American Hockey League, over the past two seasons, he has scored 62 points, including 27 goals, in 98 games, but he has never had his chance in the NHL.
Knowing how much Kent Hughes, Martin St-Louis, and Jeff Gorton value family, having reunited brothers Florian and Arber Xhekaj, it could have been interesting for them to sign Ryan Suzuki and give him a chance on the third or fourth line in Montreal.
Story to follow.
