Embarrassing scene: Hawks want Connor Bedard so bad, they give Washington a free goal
It seems that the Chicago Blackhawks have shifted into second gear to give themselves the best possible chances of drafting Connor Bedard.
One proven tactic from the past is to put a struggling goaltender in front of the net (as the Buffalo Sabres did in 2015 for McDavid).
In short, despite having a save percentage below .900 in the American League and unfortunately not being an NHL-caliber goaltender for the past three years, the Hawks sent Anton Khudobin in front of the net tonight.
They apparently don't want to play Alex Stalock anymore because he is "too good" for them this season.
In any case, that's what it looks like.
Stalock wins one out of every two games for the Hawks, with a save percentage close to 0.920. That gives them too many points in the standings.
Tonight, facing the Washington Capitals, goaltender Anton Khudobin literally gave a goal to his opponents, to the delight of Chicago fans:
