Official statement from the Montreal Canadiens
In the past hours, a very sad news has fallen in the hockey world.
"Rocky" Wirtz, majority owner and chairman of the Chicago Blackhawks, passed away suddenly yesterday at the age of 70.
"The National Hockey League family is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of W. Rockwell 'Rocky' Wirtz," said Gary Bettman.
Following this tragic announcement, the Montreal Canadiens organization once again demonstrated its great class by being one of the few teams to release an official statement to acknowledge this heavy loss.
Here is the message in question:
Our deepest condolences to the Wirtz family.
