Russian Valeri Nichushkin was not in the lineup for the Colorado Avalanche against the Seattle Kraken, nor was he with the team. He reportedly left, without giving a specific reason, to return to his homeland.
What is concerning in Valeri's case is the well-known political situation of his country. Alex Ovechkin also left earlier this season, but for family reasons.

This is obviously extremely worrying.
Obviously, on the ice, it is a big loss for the Avalanche, but as Stéphane Richer already said, there is more to life than hockey.
