In the last few hours, the Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Brandon Sutter to a professional tryout contract.
Why is this such a beautiful story, and why is it generating so much positive reaction?
Simply because Sutter hasn't played in two years, due to long-haul COVID, and absolutely everyone believed his career was over.
Today, against all odds, the Oilers are offering him a fantastic opportunity to relive his dream. His goal is clear. He aims for a significant comeback in the NHL as early as next season.
Sutter, 34, is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound center, drafted 11th overall in 2007 (1st round).
In his most recent NHL season, in 2020, he collected 12 points with the Vancouver Canucks. He is very reliable defensively and a tremendous teammate.
Congratulations to Sutter, and good luck to him!
