In the last few seconds, it has been announced that a Montreal Canadiens prospect, acquired in the Ben Chiarot trade, is leaving the organization for an indefinite period.
Ty Smilanic leaves the Canadiens' affiliated club in the ECHL, the Trois-Rivières Lions
Smilanic, acquired by the Canadiens from the Florida Panthers, is leaving the Trois-Rivières Lions indefinitely for personal reasons.
At 22 years old, Smilanic had been picked in the third round by the Panthers. In 31 games with the Lions this season, he recorded one goal and six assists, after making the decision to leave the NCAA to turn pro.
See the official statement:

We fully support Ty in his decision."
