As we reported yesterday, insider Kevin Weekes has just revealed a major piece of breaking news.

An exclusive piece of information

According to Weekes' sources, the Ottawa Sens are currently actively trying to trade their right-handed defenseman Nikita Zaitsev. They would even be willing to add a high draft pick or a top prospect, in order to facilitate a trade.

"** Keep an eye on **
I'm told that the Ottawa Senators are actively looking to trade their defenseman Nikita Zaitsev. They have authorized his representatives to speak with other clubs. I understand the Senators are willing to trade a high draft pick or prospect to facilitate a trade." - Kevin Weekes

After learning this important information about the NHL trade market, the excellent Dan Kramer put forward a concrete trade proposal, and it's always interesting to discuss.

Check out Kramer's suggestion:

"I'll play - Jonathan Drouin for Zaitsev and the Sens' 2nd 2023."

Do you like the idea?

Zaitsev, 31, is a right-handed defenseman with three points in 19 games this season, 11 points in 62 games last season, and 36 points in 82 games in his rookie season. The catch is that he makes $4.5 million a year through 2024.

Dan Kramer trade proposal:

To MONTREAL - Nikita Zaitsev and the Sens' 2023 2nd round pick.

To OTTAWA - Jonathan Drouin.

Personally, we'd possibly prefer to target a 1st round pick, like in the Sean Monahan trade with the Calgary Flames, but you be the judge.

It's always an interesting exercise to do.
