In 2016, the Montreal Canadiens selected Will Bitten with the 70th overall pick. After two years with the Canadiens' AHL affiliate, Marc Bergevin moved Bitten to Minnesota to pick up Gustav Olofsson on October 3, 2018.
Still without a game in the NHL, Bitten changed teams again as he was transferred to the Saint-Louis Blues.
In return, Bill Guerin was awarded the services of Nolan Stevens, who was also drafted 125th in 2016. Within the NCAA, he has established himself as a maverick, but at the professional level, he is not as consistent in this regard.
In short, I imagine that Guerin wanted to add leadership to the Iowa Wild with the addition of Stevens, who carried the captain's «C» at several points in his amateur career.
