Last night, after the Habs' stunning win over the Florida Panthers, Martin St-Louis was asked several times about his future in Montreal.
He practically confirmed his return, live on RDS:
Then, during his official press conference, he was even more incisive:
"Martin St. Louis has stopped beating around the bush. He will be back as head coach of the Canadiens. Conversations to come with management, official contract to come." - Eric Engels
Following that, we had a pretty emotional moment as a reporter asked St. Louis a personal question, but he probably wasn't expecting to (unfortunately) strike a chord.
Journalist:
"I have a bit of a personal question... You were away from your family for a long time to run the CH. Is it clear to you that next season your family is going to be with you (in Montreal), is it clear to you that your wife is going to follow you to Montreal and come live with you, or are you able to keep that at bay?"
Response from Martin St-Louis
"I'm able to keep that at bay...(Pause) She won't be here next year."
Clearly, there was a bit of a chill in the room, following this exchange and clearly, St-Louis quickly became very emotional.
We can so understand him, these are big sacrifices to make.
Thank you for what you do for us Martin!
