While the CH's start to the season has been surprising, the team's latest road trip has proven that the team still has some crusts to eat. Developing young players will be a long process and the strategy to reach their full potential could change.
According to Darren Dreger, the CH could very well send Slafkovsky or other young players to the Laval Rocket to further their development.
"The Canadiens are back home after a tough trip. See how the next two weeks play out. Whether it's Slafkovsky or other younger players, I could see time in Laval if Montreal is not able to right the ship. A better developmental environment."
All of this seems to be speculation from the reporter, but it makes sense. While Laval had a rough start to the season, they have recently picked up steam as they are now 5-4-0-1 in their last ten games. As Anthony Marcotte reports, Laval has been playing great hockey since mid-December.
A stint with a team that is now full of confidence could be very beneficial not only for the Rocket, but also for the future of the organization.
