While the dust has settled following the monster trade between the Florida Panthers and the Calgary Flames, many Montreal Canadiens fans are already dreaming about the possibility of seeing a certain Jonathan Huberdeau sign with the Tricolore next summer.
Remember that he will be free as a bird in less than a year. Huberdeau has admitted that he is open to signing a new contract with the Flames, but at this point, it is in his best interest to test his complete autonomy and offer his services to the 32 NHL teams.
Many have speculated about a potential offer and we recently came across a concrete and perfectly logical proposal.
The excellent Laurie Couture-Dallaire, a contributor to La Poche Bleue, posted this:
"Jonathan Huberdeau will be a #MontrealCanadiens player in 2023-2024!
He will sign a 5 or 6 year contract at about $8 - $8.5M per year.
You will have read it here first!"
Do you like her prediction? That would be really great! Let's obviously remember this:
Huberdeau, a native of St. Jerome, has 115 points in 80 games in 2021-2022. He is 29 years old.
In closing, let's remember that the Montreal Canadiens' contracts for Evgeny Dadonov, Paul Byron, Jake Allen and Jonathan Drouin end next summer. Kent Hughes will obviously have the space to make a good offer to Huberdeau, if ever.
