Among the young players who have stood out since the start of the rookie camps all around the NHL, one can find a certain Jordan Dumais with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

As reported by the site Rumeursdetransaction.com, the 19-year-old forward had a tremendous game with a six-point performance in a match against the Detroit Red Wings' rookies.

By the way, here's one of his goals.

But why am I talking about Jordan Dumais?

It's because, noticing his draft position, which was 96th overall in the 2022 draft, one realizes that the Canadiens could have drafted him.

Okay, I'm not here to rehash the old story that the Habs should have picked one player over another, but it would have been pleasant for hockey fans in Quebec to rely on an explosive forward who scored 140 points in 64 games last year with the Halifax Mooseheads.

On the other hand, it should be noted that the 2022 draft was very good for Kent Hughes with the selections of Juraj Slafkovsky, Filip Mesar, Owen Beck, and Lane Hutson in the first two rounds.

Time will tell if the Canadiens made a mistake by not drafting Jordan Dumais, who was chosen over the young Swedish defenseman Adam Engstrom four spots earlier.

The young Quebecer from Île Bizard should play with the Mooseheads this season unless, of course, he earns a spot with the Blue Jackets, who will be a team to watch in a few years.

The Blue Jackets seem to have gotten a real steal.
