A few hours before the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night, Dominique Ducharme brought an update on Paul Byron's health.

Absent from the fifth and final game of the Stanley Cup Final against the Lightning due to a hip operation, Byron would slowly but surely approach a return to action, so it would only be a matter of time in his case.

«He's getting closer,» said head coach Dominique Ducharme. «It's really a matter of time.»

«We are happy to see where he is, says Ducharme. Therapists and doctors are pleased with his progress. It's a matter of time for him.»

Byron's teammate, Jonathan Drouin, also wanted to recall the importance of number 41 in the formation, in particular his combativeness and the leadership he brings by setting an example for the youngest.

«It's good to see that he's back (with us)", he said. "Nobody talks about it enough: when it's on the ice, it brings us energy and fighting spirit. Paul was an important player for us in the playoffs last season. He scored several goals at key times.»

At 32, Byron still has a lot to give and Dominique Ducharme will certainly appreciate to be able to count on one more veteran with the current situation of the team and the number of absentees that continues to increase.
