Whenever the subject of the draft comes up, it always comes down to analyzing the organization's top prospects. By the way, on that subject, my colleagues at Fanadiens.com reported on Stéphane Leroux's interview with Mario Langlois on 98.5's Les amateurs de sports.
The man who has been working for RDS for some 30 years rightly broached the subject of the Habs' top prospects and, according to him, the team is in the driver's seat when it comes to relief on defense with Kaiden Guhle, Logan Mailloux, Jordan Harris and newcomer Justin Barron.
However, the player Leroux praised the most was Quebec forward Joshua Roy. He even said that he was a real steal from the organization.
A fifth round pick in 2021, the Sherbrooke Phoenix QMJHL forward finished first in scoring this season with 119 points, including 51 goals, in 66 games and is on track to make the next round of the playoffs.
Leroux added that if he had been eligible for the next draft, Roy would have been a first round pick.
Quite a compliment from the junior hockey specialist in Quebec. With words like that, expectations for him will be higher than expected and it will be interesting to follow his development over the next season.
