In the past few hours, we've received new information thanks to the highly respected Pat Hickey, who was a guest on Tony Marinaro's podcast.
Even though Mailloux has made significant efforts towards self-improvement, he still hasn't received the green light to officially join the NHL, by getting a pardon from Commissioner Gary Bettman.
In short, as of now, Mailloux is still prohibited from playing in the NHL, even though he met with Bettman a few weeks ago.
On this matter, the veteran Hickey is simply astonished. He can't believe that the conclusion of this case is taking so long.
He even described the situation as absurd.
Another renowned journalist, Stu Cowan, even suggested that if the process is this complicated, it might be because Gary Bettman hasn't yet accepted the Canadiens' 2021 draft selection of Mailloux.
It might be the decision of one single person.
To be continued, but we all agree with Hickey. It doesn't make sense that the Mailloux case is dragging on like this, and it doesn't make sense that he's still sidelined from the NHL at this time.
Hickey concludes by saying, If they don't grant him permission to play, there will be a strong reaction from the Players' Association. They might get involved.
This is a story we continue to follow for you!
