On one hand, the CH has a massive surplus of forwards and is tight on payroll, on the other hand, the Flyers are ravaged by injuries to their forwards and want immediate reinforcements.
For them, not making the playoffs in 2023 is absolutely not an option, so they want to go get players, especially NHL caliber forwards. Dvorak would be an ideal catch for the Flyers.
The idea is good, but we didn't really have a concrete proposal to go on... until now!
In his recent article, the excellent Marco D'Amico goes a little further. Quoting a very knowledgeable NHL source, he mentions this:
Let's also remember that the 2023 draft will be a very talented, very interesting and very deep crop. Kent Hughes could also have another second or third round pick added, if the condition is not met. Based on his previous transactions, it's safe to say he's good for it.
Still according to this source, this would be a great way for Kent Hughes to take advantage of the Flyers' problems, as he did with the Calgary Flames. He also talks about a "perfect storm".
Time is running out for the Flyers.
Suggested trade between Montreal and Philadelphia, from a knowledgeable NHL source:
To the Canadiens:
A conditional 2023 first-round pick from the Philadelphia Flyers*
To the Flyers:
Christian Dvorak
*Condition: if the Flyers miss the playoffs, the first round pick becomes a second round pick and Philadelphia must add a second round pick in 2024.
Would you accept?
Dvorak, 26, has 17 points in his last 20 games in 2021-2022. He earns $4.45 million a year through 2025.
