Here is a reminder of the transaction:
To say the least, Kent Hughes is currently looking like a true genius with this trade, it clearly looks like a home run.
He very cleverly took advantage of a tough situation for the Flames, and he made it work to his advantage, and not just about.
Sean Monahan seems to be back to the dominant player he was in 2019, when he had 34 goals and 82 points (in 78 games). Monahan currently has 6 points in 9 games with the Tricolore.
New information
According to what several very knowledgeable sources are reporting, including reporter Eric Engels (of Sportsnet), Monahan could bring back ANOTHER first round pick, to the Montreal Canadiens, at the NHL trade deadline. Wow.
Imagine the scenario. Kent Hughes would have been able to get his hands on two very valuable first round picks for... nothing!
He's brilliant, he's proactive, and we love it! In any case, the organization is clearly heading in the right direction and it's really encouraging.
On the other hand, it must be said that the Tricolore's management will probably also have to consider the option of simply offering him a new contract, and including him in the Canadiens' future.
After all, he is only 28 years old. To be continued!
