Passing through the airwaves of BPM Sports this morning, journalist Renaud Lavoie revealed the real big acquisition by Kent Hughes and the Canadiens via trade.

According to him, despite a quiet trade deadline for the Habs, that doesn't mean Kent Hughes didn't make an impactful acquisition to help his team this season.

"Status quo from Kent Hughes at the trade deadline: The big acquisition of the season is Alexandre Carrier."

Alexandre Carrier: The real solid acquisition by Kent Hughes for the trade deadline, according to Renaud Lavoie

See what he mentioned earlier today.

"Yes, he could have been a buyer, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander..

Prices were very high, but there are two things I can tell you..

The first: Kent Hughes will be active after the season.

But the other point I want to make is that he did make a trade, guys, that marked a real turning point in the season, and that's the arrival of Alexandre Carrier."

The TVA Sports journalist adds that since Alexandre Carrier joined the Montreal Canadiens' lineup (since the trade), Martin St-Louis' squad ranks 7th in the NHL standings with 39 points.

Do you think Renaud makes a good point here?

Do you think we can consider Alex Carrier as the real big acquisition by Kent Hughes and the Canadiens this season?

Carrier, 28 years old, has recorded 13 points in 32 games since arriving in Montreal, while maintaining a positive plus-minus of +6.

There is no doubt that he has had a positive impact on the team's success.
