David Savard is a newcomer to the Canadiens but despite that, it looks like he's already a well established veteran in the dressing room. The man who won the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning last July seems to be really happy with his new team.
In fact, the 30-year-old defenseman was paired with 2020 first round pick Kaiden Guhle during the first two days of training camp. The former Lightning and Blue Jackets man is enjoying the experience so far and had nothing but good words for his playing partner.
Savard admitted that he was impressed with Guhle's skating stroke. He also mentioned that the young defenseman was very calm when he talked to him between drills on the ice.
This shows why Trevor Timmins and his team went with this selection last year in the Entry Draft. However, it would be quite surprising to see Guhle with the big team this year. The Habs might want to be patient with him, especially with the numerous reports of failure with previous first round selections.
Where do you see the young Guhle heading into next season?
