The Montreal Canadiens could well undertake a complete rebuild very soon under the new management led by Jeff Gorton and the next GM.

What would that include?

Habs fans may have to say goodbye to longtime veterans, including Brendan Gallagher. This reality inspired good old Tony Marinaro, who raised the possibility that Gallagher could be traded to Los Angeles.

His explanation:

"The Kings need a goal scorer. One of their point guards, Dustin Brown, is 37 years old, and his eight-year, $5.875 million-a-season contract will expire this year. He may even retire. If I'm Jeff Gorton and I start a rebuild, I'll call the Kings and offer them Gallagher. Bergevin loves him and he has great chemistry with Phillip Danault."

Brendan Gallagher has already proven that he is capable of scoring goals, when he is well surrounded. He's only 29 years old and he still has energy in the tank. He just needs to stay healthy...

The problem with him? His horrible contract of 6.5 million dollars until 2027 could scare the Kings' GM, Rob Blake. However, I imagine that the Habs would be open to withholding salary, should such a move occur.
