Last Saturday, the Montreal Canadiens played the Detroit Red Wings and the game presented a disturbing scene, namely the contact between Dylan Larkin and Jake Allen. Larkin received a little push from Jeff Petry, fell a little off balance and collided head on with the Montreal goalie.

Regardless of who was at fault in this situation, a Montreal Canadiens soldier should have shaken the Wings captain's cage and that's exactly a point Stéphane Waite made on the "Zone Exit" podcast.

"I'm not sure it would have happened if Weber or Edmundson were there, but it just shows a little lack of leadership and character," said Waite.

Personally, I'd say it's more like a BIG lack of leadership. Weber and Edmundson would NEVER have watched the parade go by. EVER! Then, since we're talking about Edmundson, you'll ask Jeff Petry how much he misses his teammate, who made him a Norris candidate during the shortened schedule.

That said, this clan lacks consistency in the system and it remains so fragile. The problem has been repeating itself since the beginning of the year, and Dominique Ducharme always offers the same reasons to justify his group's failures. It's simple, the guys don't even trust each other...

How can we adjust this engine that runs squarely?
