Taking a good look at the Montreal Canadiens lineup at practice this morning, there are a few facts that can be deduced.

Ryan Poehling, Alex Belzile and Jesse Ylonen will have one last audition, to see who will start the season with the Habs.

However, the thing that takes the most attention from my side is that Kaiden Guhle will not be in the lineup against the Senators tonight. One would have thought that he was still auditioning for a position in Montreal. However, Ducharme made the decision to dress Brett Kulak. So, can we deduce that number 77 will be auditioning to dethrone the 19-year-old? I think so. Guhle will likely play the start of the 2021-2022 season in the old metropolis.

The power play units have also been determined for tonight.

Here's a preview:

Cole Caufield will be at his usual "spot" on the left flank, to use his laser on reception. It's easy to see that Montreal will have five right-handers on the first wave, which is quite funny.

Mike Hoffman, Sami Niku and Cedric Paquette skated this morning in Brossard.

Hoffman took it easy, doing fitness exercises. It would be surprising to see him in uniform for the first game of the season in my opinion.

At the end of practice, Hoffman increased his intensity level a bit, which shows some relief.

As for Cedric Paquette, he seems ready for the 2021-2022 campaign. The Quebecer is currently recovering from a groin injury.

Sami Niku is still skating, but with a no-contact vest. He suffered a concussion against the Ottawa Senators last Friday.
