On Friday morning, we were all heartbroken to hear of the passing of Hall of Famer and all-around great man Mike Bossy. He was only 65 years old.

Bossy had announced last October that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer. The disease that forced him to leave his position as an analyst at TVA Sports finally got the better of him.

It didn't take long for social media to be flooded with tributes to the player and the legendary man that he was. Among these tributes, one stood out as the great Guy Lafleur, who is also battling lung cancer, shared a moving message via his social networks.

Lafleur has been battling the disease since 2019 when a white spot was discovered in September 2022 on his right lung. He had then undergone a first surgery to remove both the upper lobe of his lung and lymph nodes at the Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM).

The Canadiens legend then received more bad news in October 2020 when the cancer returned. He has been fighting for his life ever since and has stayed out of the media spotlight. However, we did see him on La semaine des 4 Julie last January when he was willing to congratulate Chantal Machabée via video. When we saw him, we could see right away that this was a tough fight. That's why his message for Bossy is so moving.
