A few days ago, in the middle of a game against the Winnipeg Jets, Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson received a puck in the face following a powerful shot.
We later learned that his season is probably unfortunately over.
Carlson was immediately taken to the hospital and the images are chilling.
We didn't get many details about the injury, and that's fine, but Carlson's spouse decided to give us more, mostly to give us an idea of how serious it was.
As Marco Normandin reports, in an Instagram post, Gina Carlson said that doctors literally had to reattach his ear to his head because he was in such bad shape. Ouch!
We imagine he probably suffered a concussion on top of all that, but either way, it explains his expected long absence. We wish him all the best in his recovery.
Carlson, 33, has 8 goals and 13 assists, for a total of 21 points, in 30 games this season.
