Gorton took the opportunity to discuss the organization's plan for the return to form of Carey Price, who he also plans to meet with to discuss his future.
"The organization wants to take its time with Carey. He will be back when the time is right. We'll continue to work with him and talk to him. I've talked to him and I'm going to continue to do that, as I want to do with a number of players to see what happens in the future. But right now, I want to start by watching the team play to get an idea."
In addition, the new boss of the Tricolore's hockey department provided some additional details about the hiring process of who will be the successor of Marc Bergevin. And as was the case in 2012, a committee will be formed to agree on the best possible choice.
"I think Geoff Molson has talked about doing a committee. I think it could help me since I don't know all the candidates very well. We will work together to find the right person. The committee will be sensitive to the Montreal market."
Finally, Gorton said he was pleasantly surprised by the reception he received from Montreal fans, who still consider the city of Montreal a must-see in the hockey world.
"I'm really happy to be back after seven months without a team. The phone is ringing off the hook. People in the hockey world want to know what's going on and where we're going. I'm very happy to be in Montreal. The reaction of the fans has been good to me. If you want to work in hockey, you want to be in Montreal."
