Jeff Marek is a popular Sportsnet host and regular contributor to the highly regarded Elliotte Friedman.

Marek is notably the host of the 32 Thoughts podcast, just with Friedman, and on their most recent episode, the host threw out a monster trade proposal involving the Montreal Canadiens and Kent Hughes.

Here it is:

"What if the Arizona Coyotes say, 'We'll give you our third overall pick and our first pick next year, for your first pick,' what do you say?" - Jeff Marek

When Kent Hughes said yesterday that he's always listening to trade offers, even if he's not actively looking to part with his first overall pick, well that's exactly the kind of deal he'd most likely be willing to make.

If Bill Armstrong (Arizona) ever offers that to the Canadiens, you absolutely have to do it. (In my opinion, anyway).

Sure, Shane Wright is interesting and could become special, but not as much as the possibility of having a better chance of getting a Connor Bedard, who might be a generational player. (of the calibre of McDavid or Auston Matthews)

Would you do it if you were the Montreal Canadiens?

To Montreal: 2022 first round pick (3rd overall) + 2023 first round pick.

To Arizona: 2022 first round pick (1st overall).

Now, is that realistic? Friedman very clearly answered:

"Oh my God, you can't do that at all if you're the Coyotes! If you're Montreal, you absolutely do!" - Elliotte Friedman
