Could we see a turnaround and a "trade" between Montreal and Dallas?
The Stars would then acquire Petry, which would allow Kent Hughes to have the space under the cap to sign Klingberg.
Can you believe it?
One thing is for sure, Klingberg is still free as a bird and would be an upgrade over the veteran Petry. Personally, we more or less believe it, but we're just passing along the info from NHL Network.
That's analyst Mike Johnson, who explained that he thinks Klingberg is the player to target for Kent Hughes. He believes Montreal would be a logical and realistic destination for the excellent offensive defenseman.

Clearly, if you believe this, know that it will happen on one condition. Jeff Petry must be traded, without any salary deduction.
It's true that it would really boost the power play and the Montreal defensive squad in general, but hey.
Klingberg, 29, has 374 points (71 goals) in 552 NHL games, 148 of which were with the man advantage. He has produced at rates of 52 and 56 points (per 82 games) over the past two seasons.
Petry, meanwhile, is signed for the next three years at an average annual salary of $6,250,000 per season.
