He wants to give himself some space under the salary cap and therefore, players like Jeff Petry, Mike Hoffman, and Jonathan Drouin, could be traded by the beginning of the next season.
Regarding a possible trade involving Jonathan Drouin (and Jeff Petry), there is some news and it is important.
According to what IB THE GAMBLER reports, Kent Hughes is currently receiving calls, from the Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings, for a trade involving Drouin and Petry respectively.
Is this a reliable source? Absolutely! They have released several big scoops regarding the NFL and NBA, and while they rarely release exclusives in relation to the National Hockey League, when they do, they are right on target.
It's ironic that the Kings, a team that Marc Bergevin is currently working for, would be interested in acquiring Jonathan Drouin.
As for the Wings and Jeff Petry, it's not a surprise at all (his family is from Michigan)
Steve Yzerman and Rob Blake, the general managers of these two organizations, have probably been the most active in the league in the last few days. (with Pierre Dorion) All indications are that it's not over for them.
Do you think Jo Drouin could join Bergevin and Phillip Danault in Los Angeles? What kind of trade do you think would be feasible for both clubs?
It's not a done deal that Drouin will be traded to the Kings, but it's certain that there have been talks, over the phone, in that sense.
Drouin, a 27-year-old native of Ste-Agathe, is a third overall pick (in 2013) and had 20 points in 34 games in the most recent regular season.
For his career, he has 252 points (75 goals) in 427 games. He is signed for one more season and earns $5.5 million.
